Kahani means story and Dor is the Hindi word for thread. We strive to create a more sustainable and ethical production of lifestyle products, are committed to reviving handicraft in rural India and by doing so offer a chance for families to make a dignified living, stay together in their native villages and pass the craft on to the next generation.
"By working with traditional spinning, weaving and printing techniques, we create a unique, high quality natural fabric while preserving the environment. Our products are then designed and produced in collaboration with fair trade certified small factories, women-led and family-run workshops or women's empowerment programmes in India.
At Kahani Dor we believe it is high time to think about the quality, value and impact of the clothes and fabrics we wear and use every day - cloths and other textile products uses too much human and natural resources to be treated as commodity.
The fabric of which your product is made has a story to tell – an interesting and concerning one. Be curious and open your eyes to know about the process of creating our products, then only by knowing how it’s done you’ll be able to differentiate and make a better choice for you and the future.
Finally, by choosing one of our pieces, that you hopefully will use and love for a very long time, you ultimately reduce your impact in the fast fashion industry. We believe that embracing slow fashion as an attitude is easy when you choose the right products.
Kahani Dor will bring you closer to the rich heritage of Indian textile, inspire with colourful prints and provide you with favourite pieces."
